Our Mission

Empower Her Rise, Inc. is a nonprofit organization based in Metro Detroit, Michigan, committed to empowering women of color from underserved and underrepresented communities. We close opportunity gaps in higher education, law, and leadership by providing mentorship, scholarships, and professional development.

What began as a vision to build a community of representation for future lawyers, leaders, and first-generation students has grown into a movement. In response to the lack of mentorship, representation, and access to resources for women of color, Empower Her Rise was created to change that narrative.

Founded on the belief that representation and access matter, our organization is dedicated to assist women of color to navigate their ambitions. What started as a mission to uplift has evolved into a community-centered initiative supporting first-generation students, future legal professionals, and women pursuing higher education.

Through mentorship programs, leadership development, community outreach, and pre-law support, Empower Her Rise creates pathways for the next generation of changemakers. Our work is driven by a powerful mission to empower, connect, and elevate women of color so they can lead, serve, and transform the spaces they enter.

Empower Her Rise is a student-led and woman-led organization, built by emerging leaders and young professionals who are united in advancing a future where women from underserved and underrepresented communities have the opportunity, support, and representation they deserve.

Empower Her Rise, Inc was founded in March 2025 by Amaya Banks, a Detroit native, passionate advocate for equity in law, leadership, and higher education. After navigating the challenges faced by young women of color in these spaces, Amaya envisioned an organization that would support and uplift woman from underserved and underrepresented communities.

began as a grassroots initiative has evolved into a powerful movement dedicated to dismantling systemic barriers and creating opportunities for women of color in law pre-law to postgraduates. Empower Her Rise serves as a bridge connecting empowerment to opportunity, potential to preparation, and passion to purpose.

With a strong focus on mentorship, professional development, civic engagement, and educational access, we are preparing the next generation of lawyers, leaders, and scholars. Our programs are designed to cultivate confidence, empower voices, and build the skills necessary to succeed in competitive and transformative spaces.

At Empower Her Rise, we are building futures, communities, and a legacy of leadership grounded in community and service
